The best thing I did for myself and my Mom was to buy IP Surveillance Cameras. Some of the wildlife images on this site came from them. They're not perfect, but gives me an idea of what I missed during the day.

In winter, I can watch the action from the kitchen.
What tools do you use to track your wildllife?
I wait for my migratory birds early spring. I set my hummingbird feeder out in early May, by October most of my wildlife have migrated.
